If you're an ex-player from Oxford City, Oxford United, Abingdon Town, Banbury United or Thame United that played alongside either Joey or Chris, and would like to play in the match, please contact Peter Lamont on 07932 163930 to secure your place in the squad.

CHRIS POTTER

Chris was an avid footballer, playing prominent roles at Oxford City, Thame United, and Abingdon Town bfore moving to Banbury United. He was as much a character as a player, lighting up the pitch and changing room. He was at the forefront of social activities and always willing to lend a hand.

Chris sadly lost his battle with cancer in 2020, survived by his two children, Bethany and Joshua, and their mother, Hannah. The grief of losing their father was helped greatly by SeeSaw, a charity dedicated to providing bereavement support for children and families. As it became clear that Chris wasn’t going to make it, Seesaw started pre-bereavement support which continued until well after his passing. Their care was essential in guiding Chris’ family through the most difficult times.

JOEY BEAUCHAMP

Joey was a local legend known for his wide play, taking on players and popping up with great assists and goals. While quiet and unassuming, he always showed his class by talking to everyone and getting well involved with the social side of the club. Joey signed for Abingdon Town when his pro football career took a back seat, eventually playing games alongside his brother, Luke. His support was relied on by his fellow players.

Tragically, Joey passed away in 2022 after a battle with mental health. He left behind his daughters, Jessie and Bella, and partner, Millie. The family were helped immensely by SeeSaw and have since formed a new charitable organisation in his honour – the Joey Beauchamp Foundation – dedicated to promoting mental well-being and supporting local people living with mental health difficulties.
